What this site collects, and why.
This page explains what personal information this website collects, why it is collected, and what you can do about it. It is written to meet the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand). Because Michelle speaks internationally, it also covers visitors from the United Kingdom and the European Union.

Who is responsible
This website is operated by Dr Michelle Dickinson, based in New Zealand. Under the Privacy Act 2020 the operator is the agency responsible for personal information collected here.
If you have a question about privacy, or want to see or correct information held about you, email enquiries@kaimar.co. There is no charge for asking.
What is collected when you make an enquiry
The enquiry form asks for your name and email address, and optionally your organisation, event date, location, audience size, budget range and what you want your audience to think, feel or do.
Only name and email are required. Everything else is there because it makes a useful reply possible, and you can leave it blank.
This information is used to respond to your enquiry and to discuss a possible speaking engagement. It is not sold, and it is not used for marketing unrelated to your enquiry.
Form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, the service that hosts this site. Netlify stores data on servers outside New Zealand, including in the United States.
What is collected automatically
Like almost every website, this one is served by a host that keeps standard server logs. These typically include your IP address, the pages requested, the time of the request, and your browser and device type. They are used to operate the site securely and to diagnose faults.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use it: which pages are read, how people move through the site, and which version of a page works better. This helps make the site more useful and is not used to identify you personally.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects information including your approximate location (derived from your IP address, which is not retained in full), device and browser, the pages you visit, and how you arrived. This information is processed by Google and may be stored outside New Zealand, including in the United States.
You can opt out at any time. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, and Google publishes a browser add-on that prevents Google Analytics collecting data at all. Blocking analytics does not affect how the site works.
If you are visiting from the United Kingdom or the European Union, analytics will not run unless you agree to it.
Video
Videos on this site are hosted on YouTube, but nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. Until then the page shows an image and a button, and YouTube does not know you are here.
When you do press play, the video is loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, which limits the information YouTube collects compared with an ordinary embed. At that point Google's own privacy terms apply to the playback.
Cookies in short
No cookies are used for advertising, and none are used to track you across other websites.
The site sets a cookie only where one is genuinely needed: to remember an analytics or consent choice, and, for the site's own administrator, to keep them signed in. Playing a video may cause YouTube to set its own cookies.
Who your information is shared with
Your enquiry is read by Michelle and by the agents who manage her speaking engagements, so that it can be answered and quoted.
The service providers involved in running the site can necessarily process data in the course of providing it: Netlify for hosting and form handling, Google for analytics and for video playback if you press play.
Information is not sold or traded, and is not given to anyone else except where the law requires it.
Information held overseas
Some of the providers above store information outside New Zealand. Where personal information is disclosed to an overseas provider, the Privacy Act 2020 requires reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by comparable safeguards. These providers operate under published privacy terms and international data protection frameworks intended to provide that protection.
How long it is kept
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to respond and to manage any resulting engagement, and for a reasonable period afterwards for business records.
Analytics data is retained according to the retention setting configured in Google Analytics.
If you would like your enquiry deleted, ask and it will be.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to ask for a copy of it, and to ask for it to be corrected if it is wrong.
There is no charge for asking, and a response is required within 20 working days. Send requests to enquiries@kaimar.co.
If you are unhappy with how a request is handled, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you additionally have rights to erasure, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability, and you may complain to your national data protection authority.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Enquiry data is held in the hosting provider's systems and access to it is limited to Michelle and her agents.
No system is completely secure, and no guarantee can be given that information transmitted over the internet is entirely safe from interception.
Children
This site is intended for event organisers and other professional audiences. It is not directed at children, and information is not knowingly collected from them.
